So many magical moments at this years #sagharboram So many magical moments at this years #sagharboramericanmusicfestival…couldn’t capture them all, but here are a few to share the love. Congrats to Kelly Dodds and the entire team on another amazing festival!
CONTEMPLATE #tbt to our visit to #ClaudeMon CONTEMPLATE

#tbt to our visit to #ClaudeMonet's outstanding presentation of his Water Lilies masterpiece at the #MuseelOrangerie in Paris that has been on view there since 1927.

One of the titans of western art, Monet's water lilies are among the most iconic and celebrated subjects in all the history of art. He dedicated his life to the subject at the end of his life and successfully pushed the boundaries of landscape painting towards abstraction.

His subject matter was focused on the surface of the water, showing all its energy and emotion. With that, he invented an "all-over" composition devoid of context or narrative. The series thus created a critically important link between Impressionism and Abstract Expressionism, inspiring generations of painters to follow.

The canvases in the museum were purposefully placed to create a continuum in time and space. The elliptical shape of the room was meant to draw out the mathematical symbol for infinity.

Fun Fact: In 1927, the public actually did not receive the #WaterLilypaintings very well as interest swayed away from Impressionism towards Fauvism, Cubism, Futurism, Dada, Surrealism at the time. The museum even built temporary walls up around Monet’s work! It wasn’t until after the Second World War decades later, that Monet's late work finally received recognition for the masterpieces they truly were. I guess first "impressions" are not always the last ;)

TIP TUESDAY Why do collectors hire art advisors TIP TUESDAY
Why do collectors hire art advisors?🤔

...simply put, art advisors play a crucial role in mitigating risk for new and seasoned art collectors alike. The process of acquiring fine art can present various obstacles, including volatile and opaque markets, emerging technologies, and fleeting trends. With the art industry expanding and encompassing distinct submarkets within the global market, navigating without professional guidance can be challenging.

An experienced art advisor offers specialized expertise in navigating mercurial markets, avoiding short-lived trends, and applying connoisseurship. They can provide valuable advantages in art collecting, assisting with accessing rare and exclusive works of art and acting as client fiduciary agents.

JUST DESSERTS🍦 Head to Montauk and see # JUST DESSERTS🍦

Head to Montauk and see #MattJohnson's sculptures at #theRanchMontauk. His delectable giant popsicle is a great reminder that we can still pine for those cold treats of summer in an attempt to extend the season just a little longer. ☀️

Also on view there is the 3rd annual #DrunkvsStoned group show featuring 70 artists which is sure to be, err, buzzin’. 😜

'The exhibition is the latest chapter in an ongoing investigation into the two most ubiquitous forms of intoxicated transcendence, to determine what promise, if any, they may still hold in relation to making and thinking about art.'

###
'Matt Johnson’s sculptural lexicon grasps objects and ideas that hover beneath our noses. Often rummaging through the proverbial kitchen sink or borrowing from the heap of objects conscribed to the “common” or “taken for granted,” Johnson lodges these objects into alternate frameworks both conceptual and emotional––the art historical and subcultural, the comical and nostalgic.'

TRUE NATURE 🌿🌿 Channeling local Hampt TRUE NATURE 🌿🌿

Channeling local Hamptons artist, Idoline Duke today and her soulful indigo painting nestled in this ever so welcoming foyer by #Victoriahageninteriors 🔥

I adore Idoline's intuitive warm embrace of the natural world around us and the message her work imparts--interconnectedness amongst humans and our precious planet earth 💙

For Duke, her inspiration always starts outdoors as she lives near 200 acres of conserved farmland by #accabonacharbor.

Her works depict anything found in nature usually what surrounds her—wild meadows, marshlands, ocean beaches, sassafras trees, ospreys, eagles, owls, deer and more.

Duke is also deeply influenced by Mexican Otomi embroidery as well as Northern European #scherenschnitte, or the art of paper-cutting, which informs her work. Her visually compelling and imaginative scenes are a feast for the eyes!
