Why do I need an art advisor?

“The art market is not an open affair. It thrives on back rooms, knowing the right people and the well-placed, targeted indiscretion.” - Thomas Hüetlin, Der Spiegel.

TESTIMONIALS

"Heidi has assisted me for many years buying art from private collections, galleries, and auction houses like Sotheby’s and Christie's. Many of my paintings were purchased and acquired through her on a confidential basis, and my name was never known. Always a pleasure dealing with her–all matters were confidential and never a misunderstanding between us. If you are a collector--I highly recommend Heidi’s services!" - Private Art Collector, Texas

“Heidi has an incredible depth of knowledge in her field and a clear passion for art. Her experience at the intersection of art and commerce, combined with her ability to think creatively, infuses her work with initiative and thoughtfulness. She has been a formidable asset and I’m excited to see what she does next”. - Thomas Galbraith, CEO, Hindman Auctions

"With your help, we were able to create an extraordinary atmosphere of access, insight, and discovery for our intimate group of UBS clients, prospects, and guests. From the perspective of incredibly connected and hard-to-impress guests--the entire package of events surprised, delighted and inspired our guests. The comments and feedback we received have been uniformly glowing!
I am also personally delighted to have been able to work with you over the weeks leading up to the fair. You have been open, receptive and engaging--which made our job all the more pleasant and our client's experience all the better. Your contacts, strategic thinking, and your energy were key to our success!"- Rod. V., UBS Private Wealth Management

“I was always impressed by Heidi's deep knowledge of the workings of the art market, along with her ability to build a trusting rapport with clients and prospects. Her entrepreneurial spirit, rigorous thinking, and strong work ethic make for a compelling combination. What made her unique, though, was the genuine personal touch she adds to these skills, her ability to make strong personal connections very quickly. Working with her was always a pleasure.” - Thierry D., Marketing Director, Port Authority

“Heidi has worked with clients in building first-class international collections of contemporary art.” - Micheal Gitlitz, Director of Marlborough Gallery

“Other advisors I talked to were going to charge me twice as much and take twice as long to do our first art exhibition, and it would have been half the quality! Choosing to work with Heidi was a no-brainer.” - A.T. Kearney

“I met Heidi through an Armory Show Group visiting my art collection. That chance meeting has led to a lasting and rewarding relationship and friendship. I have an extensive collection located in my loft, an art storage room in the loft, an off-site storage area and art in my upstate home. I was a prolific but unorganized collector. Heidi promptly redressed that situation. We visited all sites, took photos and measurements and I now have it on DVDs. She provided labels for all the art and an appraisal for each piece. And this was all done at a very reasonable cost. Equally valuable, she has become my counselor on all matters art-related, including strategy and disposition. We talk often. She is a trusted adviser and friend.” - Ron S., Executive Adviser at Calatrava Grace Corporation

“Heidi’s enthusiasm and amazing capacity to put herself out there a hundred and fifty percent make her a valuable asset to any great endeavor.” – Jasmin S., Director of Family Estate

“Heidi, thank you for your invaluable assistance picking up all those pieces at auction! You really helped me to bid with confidence that I would not overpay on pieces that are great investments as well as pieces I will enjoy looking at every day in my home and at my office.” - Lionel L., Private art collector, New York

“I have gotten to know Heidi well, working with her for a few years. She is a true professional and expert in her field. A truly sincere person who has been a pleasure to work with on various art projects. Knowing how hard and focused she works, I would consider her an asset to any project or company that she is involved in.” - Nick Turner, Contemporary Artist

“I have known Heidi for a long time as she has been involved in the art world for many years, and we crossed paths on countless occasions in art openings and art fairs in NY and abroad…I always liked Heidi, because of her friendly and very welcoming way of interacting with people. Always kind and positive. I have to say that I had a wonderful experience working with her. Always straightforward to ensure we are on the same page. Very great to communicate with and discuss ideas or concerns. Great knowledge in art as well as the business side of it. I felt she gave 100% of her time and skills…”-Laurent Elie Badessi, Contemporary Artist

While working closely with Heidi over the last two years at Twyla as a member of the art team, I had the pleasure of witnessing firsthand Heidi’s ardent approach to all projects and challenges. Particularly impressive are her skills at encouraging collaboration and uniting forces to execute standout curatorial projects and experiences. Heidi’s magnetism and curiosity make her a powerful ally and I would endorse her for any role!” - Cornelia C., colleague

The energy was electric despite a cooling market—proof that bold vision and sharp curation still captivate. Collectors were cautious but intentional, and galleries are meeting them with patience and precision. Sales remained steady despite the slower pace.

Here’s my roundup of what’s making waves:

👀Highlights & Booths to Watch:

👉#ThaddeausRopac delivered high with museum-worthy works by #marthajungwirth,#joansnyder #alexkatz and #HansJosephsohn (a large bronze was just acquired by The Met).
👉#Gagosian brought the drama with #JeffKoons’s “Hulk Elvis” sculptures—one sold for a reported $3M within hours.
👉#Perrotin’s solo booth of #ClaireTabouret’s luminous portraits sold out quickly, with prices ranging from $65K to $200K.
👉#WhiteCube placed a #TraceyEmin painting for £1.2M and a bronze sculpture for £80K, while also selling works by #EtelAdnan and #AntonyGormley.

🌟 Artists in the Spotlight
#Tabboo! (#StephenTashjian) is having a moment. His vivid, queer-coded paintings at #KarmaGallery bridge generations and histories.
#YehwanSong’s digital installation at #GGallery critiques algorithmic systems with poetic force.
#LuanaVitra’s eco-political sculptures at #MitreGaleria confront Brazil’s mining industry with raw materiality.

✨ Sneak peek: The Riggio’s legendary collection is hitting the auction block at Christie’s this May.

Flashback to when I had the privilege to visit their Hamptons estate with ArtTable and fellow board members: Imagine stepping into a secret garden where every path leads to a masterpiece. 🖼️🌿 Proof that collecting isn’t just about having art — it’s about living with it.

Save this as a reminder: Great collectors don’t just acquire — they curate a life. 🎯

About the auction: For over 30 years, Leonard ‘Len’ Riggio, the entrepreneurial founder of #Barnes&Noble, and his wife #LouiseRiggio amassed a formidable collection of #20thcenturyart. Fueled by the couple’s lifelong pursuit of knowledge and spirit of discovery, the collection for sale represents an anthology of the artists who challenged some of our most established ideas about art, culture, and society. From Mondrian’s pioneering approach to abstraction to Marshall's radical African American portraiture, the collection is a roll-call of 20th-century masterpieces in dialogue with one another.

MIRROR MIRROR ON THE WALL Who's deconstructing ph MIRROR MIRROR ON THE WALL

Who's deconstructing photography’s illusions most of all? #EileenQuinlan 📸✨

Quinlan isn't just pushing the boundaries of what a photograph is — she’s smashing them, setting them on fire, and coolly rebuilding them in the name of feminist history and radical self-awareness.

Her images aren't windows into the world; they're mirrors reflecting back all the messy mechanics of how we present, consume, and believe images today.

Equal parts mesmerizing and unsettling (in the best way), Quinlan's work invites you to lean in and pulls the rug out from under you.

She's exhibited everywhere that matters — the Venice Biennale, MoMA, the Met, the Whitney...(basically, her CV is more stacked than my coffee table during art fair season).

I'm beyond grateful to have had the opportunity to place her work into a permanent collection, ensuring these reflections (and disruptions) endure for generations to come. ✨

Thank you @miguelabreugallery for championing such powerhouse talent. 🚀

ART & PROCESS 🖌️ “I work on a lot of piece ART & PROCESS 🖌️

“I work on a lot of pieces at once and it becomes a meditative process… It’s almost like a mantra every day… less thinking, less judgment… that’s when the work breathes. Accept where you are and work with it.” – Nick McPhail

McPhail’s layered architectural paintings are rooted in observation and repetition. Blending memory, environment, and intuition, his process evokes a mindful rhythm—where form, light, and time coexist.

Xylor Jane’s paintings are intricate constellations of numbers—grids of hand-painted digits that map time, emotion, and logic. A quiet geometry pulses beneath the surface. Working with prime numbers, Fibonacci sequences, and calendrical systems, Jane’s work occupies a space between math and mysticism, order and obsession.

Both artists are deeply process-driven: McPhail’s intuitive mark-making parallels Jane’s continuous systems. In their own way, each suspends time—one through breath and brush, the other through numbers and structure. Together, they invite a different kind of looking—one that lingers, listens, and lets the logic of the work unfold slowly.

I’m elated to have place these exceptional works with an important permanent collection—where rigor, resonance, and quiet beauty find their place.

Art can elevate the mundane into the remarkable, and Agathe Snow’s work beautifully exemplifies this.

I've admired her artistry for years and have had the good fortune to meet her on multiple occasions. She consistently displays warmth, openness, and a readiness to share, whether it involves her visual art, culinary skills, or homegrown @mattituck.mushrooms!🍄‍🟫

Her diverse artistic approach includes live performances like the 24-hour celebration at the Guggenheim (see last slide!), alongside text, sculpture, installation, and painting. She skillfully transforms found items, such as Mardi Gras beads and other unconventional materials, into striking and thought-provoking sculptures. Her creations address themes of moral decline while celebrating resilience and creativity, instilling a sense of hope and optimism. 🌎🔄

Agathe’s work inspires and pushes boundaries. I feel truly fortunate to have played a small part in helping place her work in the #GuggenheimMuseum’s permanent collection and to have acquired the above work for another major institution. Witnessing deserving artists secure a permanent space is always fulfilling. 💫

I can’t help but smile and feel the vibrant energy captured in this piece. Much like the annual New Orleans celebration, Agathe's work is a joyful fusion of spontaneity, culture, and creativity. 🎭💜💛💚
