HLK Art Group curated Contemporary art for a 400,000 sq ft space at the former BlackRock offices in Manhattan.
The firm had tasked principal, Heidi Lee-Komaromi with spearheading the expansion of the Fortune 100 firm’s permanent art collection, curating and installing works by leading contemporary artists across multiple corporate headquarter offices. She managed all aspects from acquisition and installation to framing and inventory control with the aim to elevate the firm’s brand presence and employee engagement. She worked with dozens of artists and galleries on the creative side, and several framers, art handlers, and facilities teams across multiple offices and cities. This capstone project blended curatorial excellence, corporate relationship management, and business strategy, where we applied strategic vision and complex project management.
Heidi sourced works by artists who are engaged with relevant contemporary issues and who have been vetted for their excellence in artistic practice, historical relevancy, conceptual development, and career trajectory. The artists selected have exhibited widely in galleries, museums, and biennials, receiving critical acclaim. Additionally, many artists’ works have been collected by other prominent private and public collections. All the art selected met the highest standards of connoisseurship in terms of quality, long-term value, and place of importance in the artist’s oeuvre.
We even considered stakeholder diplomacy. Heidi balanced executive priorities with curatorial integrity, ensuring art choices resonated with both leadership and employees. Each art acquisition was not just a transaction—it was an act of cultural stewardship that reflects the firm’s core values.
This project was more than a curatorial achievement—it was a testament to the transformative power of contemporary art. For HLK Art Group, it underscored the joy of connecting artists to audiences far beyond the gallery, and of weaving cultural threads into the very fabric of a global institution.
