New Ways to Discover Art
The online art market has come a long way since art businesses first emerged online in the late 1980s leading with Artnet. Technology continues to propel the art world online and art professionals and collectors have become increasingly dependent on the internet for art sales, research and information. However, the shape of the online art market remains elusive and it is still unclear which players will succeed in disrupting the industry, if at all. There is still a long way to go before we will see a game changer emerge in the field and change has been painstaking slow.
This summer I had the pleasure to speak on ONE ART NATION’s panel at Art Southampton where we discussed the growth of the online art market and its profound impact on the way professionals and individuals use the web to discover, browse, and learn about art.
Although the online art market is unlikely to replace the traditional art market anytime soon, it still offers significant potential for helping collectors, galleries, auction houses, and other market players with their everyday art needs. Watch the video below and learn more!
