Arttable’s 30th Anniversary Celebration Weekend
ArtTable celebrated its 30th anniversary with a three-day long program of events. I attended the opening convocation and ceremony on April 15th at Sotheby’s where hundreds of accomplished women in the arts were in attendance to honor ArtTable’s co-founder Lila Harnett, journalist, collector and long time respected patron of the arts. We watched a short documentary and listened to her words of wisdom before she was presented with the prestigious award designed by the late Louise Bourgeois. Hearing Lila speak so eloquently gave me hope that with a vision, focus and a little support from others that one can achieve anything they set out to do in the arts.
I mingled with friends who I ran into and made some great connections with other interesting art professionals, many of whom I would never have met on my own. We talked shop while sipping white wine and grazing the gourmet cheese and charcuterie. There was also a special performance by jazz singer, Jamie Leonhart . I went home thinking that New York really does have a lot of talent – you just need to know where to look.
ArtTable hosts an annual luncheon that has attracted an impressive list of art world and non-art world celebrities including philanthropists, collectors, curators and notables, from Hillary Clinton to Gloria Steinem to Yoko Ono. There are 1,600 members nationwide with 900 members in New York.
